For promotion of research activities in emerging areas of Science & Technology GUJCOST is financially assisting universities/R & D Institutions/Colleges for setting Centre of Excellence. Presently following areas have been selected.

• Electronics and Emerging Technology

• Nano Science

• Neural Science

• Robotics

• Geriatrics

• Material Science

• Chemical Science

To set up a Centre at suitable institute/department in the state, proposals for setting up of "Centre of Excellence" are invited in the specified format. Purchase of permanent equipments and recurring expenditure are provided under the scheme. The proposal for grant roughly amounting to Rs. 15 to 30 lakhs/year are invited subjected to maximum tenure of three years. Proposal should focus on any one subject of concern field and institute/Department may take up Research/Development in that proposed areas.

 

At present 5 centre of Excellence are established :

• Centre of Excellence in Material Science and Nanopolymeric Material,  M.S. University, Vadodara

• Centre of Excellence in Supermolecules : Fullerence, Nanotubes, Rotaxanes, Calixarences and ther applicability in Environment and Material Science, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad

• Centre of Excellence in Nanotechnology of Nanomagnetic Particles, Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar

• Centre of Excellence in Nanoscience and Nanomaterial, S.P. University, Vallabh Vidyanagar

• Development of Oxide Nanomaterial Thin Films & Multimedia for Device Application, Dr. D. G. Kuberkar, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Saurashtra University, Rajkot
